A grandfather's table, open to everyone
La Casa del Abuelo was born from a dream two brothers and their uncle carried for decades — to cook the food of their homeland and share it with anyone who walked in.
From Lempira to Spring
Yuri, Edgar, and Uncle Jay grew up in Lempira, Honduras, right on the border with El Salvador. They immigrated to Boston in the 1990s, worked across the restaurant industry, then moved to Spring in 2022 to open a place of their own.
The people behind the kitchen
Uncle Jay brought decades of experience as a chef; Yuri and Edgar sharpened their skills as servers and managers. Between the three of them, they've worked every corner of a dining room.
In El Abuelo Miguel's honor
The restaurant is named for the family patriarch, Miguel Henrriquez — El Abuelo — whose warmth defined the family's sense of home. After his passing in 2023, the family carried his dream forward in his name.
A seat at the table
El Abuelo always had room for one more — and that's the spirit of this place. Honduran and Salvadoran cooking, including pupusas, baleadas, and Pollo con Tajadas, served where every guest is made to feel expected.
